White Ash Block WA-143 3" x 3" x 5.4"White Ash Block 1433" x 3" x 5 3 8"1 1 4 lbs. This is another very nice small 3 inch square section, end grain block of Texas White Ash. I would consider it for a small vase or turned box. The color is an overall light to slightly pinkish brown with strong inter grain stripes of darker brown. I see no cracks, knots or checks. There are several very small black stained borer holes (both photos), most of which should turn off as the blank is roughed

The block is rough-sawn

but there are no cracks or checks

That too would be turned off quickly if the block is shaped to a more-rounded form

The grain pattern is strong and attractive and appears to be quarter-sawn

There is a fairly thick wedge of creamy sapwood on a portion of two sides and the intermediate edge

both of which can be traced thru the block to the opposite side
