The present dominant color is the classic golden yellow of moderately fresh Bodark heartwood, with a prominent wedge of beige sapwood the length of one edge. The heartwood includes intragrain bands and areas of reddish brown spalting stripe down the sides. These strong colors will darken to an even more attractive, dark reddish brown to golden brown

This is a small quarter-sawn board - one of a set of  five book-matched boards of the M-517 set (photos happen to be of board "B")

What remains is tight with only very thin and short pith-related radial cracks

There is a single thin and tight drying check below that patch of sapwood and bark on one edge

There is a prominent stripe of reddish spalting along a portion of one edge (both photos) and lighter stripes and patches elsewhere

I consider it to be insignificant
