Spring by the PondAn original oil painting of a quiet moment in early spring, just before the tree branches burst into bud, when the ground becomes a carpet of colour as bulbs emerge to face the sun. I found this a good study on edges

where a natural composition was created with iceberg roses climbing upwards and framed against the limpid blue sky

The tree rose so proudly against the fields with calmly grazing sheep

and I worked to capture two of them here as they rested on the green grass and seemed to enjoy the sunlight on their faces

with Witney's St Mary's Church bell tower visible beyond the treeline
