The Speedmaster Mark II was a departure from the original Speedmaster's design, featuring a tonneau shaped case with a bracelet, and a tachymeter scale printed on the dial. One of the most notable features of the Speedmaster Mark II is its movement. The watch was powered by the Omega calibre 861, a highly reliable and
external tachymeter scale (initially BASE 1000 but changed to BASE 500 in later models) further enhanced its legibility and cemented the Speedmaster as a world class tool watch
