「關心家人」、「尊重他人」、「愛護社區」、「珍惜資源」、「體貼生命」……這樣的論調經常被提起，可是，怎麼付出行動呢？如果「關愛」只是一道測驗題，知道作答就好，和行動不必相應的話，那將是一件多麼嚴重的事！到底要有什麼準備，才能讓人「理解」關愛的重要，又要「怎麼付出」關愛呢？我首先想到的是，對需要被關愛的對象得先有認識，不是認識標準答案喔，而是讓孩子（甚或每個人）都意識到：其實我們並不是在家庭生活、學校生活之後才進入社會生活，而是一出生就投入這個共生共榮的大鎔爐。生病了，找醫生；迷路了，問警察；冰箱空了，上市場；筆記本用完了，到文具店；電話不通，找電信局；寄信到郵局；買菜到市場；貓狗生病找獸醫；要種植找土地；要救援找消防隊；要分享找朋友；要溫暖找家人……我們和社會上的每件事、每個人都有直接或間接的關係。有了這層息息相關的認同，才能以自己的立場去思索行動方式。這樣，要「愛屋及烏」的付出關愛，是不是會容易些呢？
