Domaine de la Chevalerie "Peu Muleau" Bourgueil 2018The Caslot family of Domaine de la Chevalerie are noted for their warmth and hospitality in a region that is pretty friendly to begin with. Their vines have been certified Biodynamic since 2012 but were organic for many, many years before that. They still represent an astounding value, with Cabernet Franc that earnestly expresses subtle differences in soil types.

Palate: High acid

Some of my favorite wines from them have been the 'daughter wines' named after each of their three daughters

We enjoyed it a lot but then as a joke we said “hey we should make wine of our own”

malted and un-malted barley

and a subtle smoky spice on the finish

On the nose I found aromas of dark fruits

chiefly by the fact that they were first to plant and make wines from Tannat

zesty and oh so drinkable

Even more shocking is that only 3 or 4% of the wine is bottled: most is sold off as bulk wine
