Chilewich Placemat Round KaleidoscopeInspired by Japanese kumiko woodcrafting used for centuries to create intricate latticework screens, Kaleidoscope is a gleaming exploration of tessellations: patterns of shapes that fit perfectly together. We were intrigued by the way such designs can appear to fade in and out as they repeat in tiled forms. The traditional Asanoha motif (often used on kimono) was the starting point. Using our innovative molded technique, we adapted this abstract
and parallel to the short side on the utility mats and runners
as they can also be used as attractive storage for used teabags
