The table lamp was initially designed in collaboration in the late 1930s for the construction of the Radiohuset building in Copenhagen (now the Royal Danish Academy of Music). The VL38 lamp and the VL45 chandelier were both designed for Radiohuset and began appearing in catalogs in the mid 1940s after World War II.
