Midnight Arctic Hare

Midnight Arctic HareTaken on Somerset Island at around midnight as the sun dipped low on the horizon. At 74degrees North during the summer the sun actually never sets. Mark Will never forget this evening, as the temperature dipped below freezing with the clear evening sky, he waited patiently for hours to capture this backlit shot as this Arctic Hare was feeding, if you look carefully you can see the glow of Purple Saxifrage in the foreground. After an intense hour

making it hard for a number of cetaceans to find each other

Hours can be spent watching penguin moved across the landscape and this was no exception as this trio waddled happily down the ice heading for the water to feed

Due to its remoteness we are still learning but it’s believed there is around 70’000 orcas that live in Antarctica

They were moving faster than I could paddle so I just enjoyed them from afar
