The Survivor

The SurvivorIv been lucky enough to see some incredible wildlife up here in the High Arctic but I think this encounter was one of the most unexpected & special. The sun has not set for months, (here at 74degrees North) so we have 24 hour day light. I was about to got to sleep at around midnight but then saw some movement on a nearby hill, I managed to capture this shot on the long lens and then noticed the Arctic Fox only had 3 legs. In just a few months its

often diving up to 600m for Antarctic cod whilst holding their breath for over an hour

ripping ferociously down the Drake Passage

One of Mark’s personal favourites and it’s so special to be able to see the young beluga calves

On a small island NE of Port Hardy Mark noticed this mature Bald Eagle close to the water line whilst passing on a boat

he captured this penguin jumping

A frozen alpine forest separated by a meandering river

it’s hard not to have anything but admiration for them

then they disappeared on a long dive

when it enters the iceberg and interacts with snow particles

I realised I had lost track of time

my sister was visiting and Id taken her out on the zodiac for sunrise which was also low tide
