Stanton & Killeen Vintage Port 1998Stanton and Killeen is one of the great pioneering wine families of Rutherglen. They produce arguably the best Vintage Port in Australia, quite dry by Australian standards and closer to the Portuguese style. It is, according to James Halliday, "ludicrously underpriced". The grapes for the 1998 Stanton & Killeen Vintage Port are principally drawn from 77 year old vines from the Jack's Block vineyard. We must thank Chris Killeen for its production

After nine months in barrel the wine is lightly filtered and bottled

silky supple textures

The sleeves of this wine are folded immaculately

It has to be said that RWT always leans towards the syrupy and the too-soft but this release does a particularly good job of balance

Knappstein's main passion is pinot noir
