Spirit of Home - Aroma

Spirit of Home - AromaSpirit of Home Aroma, inspired by one of the vibrant traditional attire of the central province. Similar to the other 'Kala' paintings, where colour (kala in tok pisin), it is an explosion of colours that I as a creator of this work use without any planning or composition to bring this together cohesively. There are many stories, legends and myths from the area similar to many coastal tribes. This piece, formed the foundation for the 'Our Journey'

which led me on a journey to better understand its cultural significance

I present this profound piece

infusing a piece of home into it

a tribute to heritage

meaning they all form parts of the larger pieces of work

an animal considered sacred in many coastal villages throughout PNG

The Mountain Meri series is an ongoing project that changes and grows as I discover more stories that inspire these meaningful pieces

Back in August 2023

and no one will be arrested

making them hard to find

one of many similar tragedies in a country where the vulnerable often go unheard
