Hunting in the Fog

Hunting in the FogOn a crisp autumn morning, the fog wrapped Amherst Island in a soft embrace, painting the rural field in muted tones. I sat quietly, inhaling the damp scent of earth and leaves, when I spotted a Northern Harrier hen land on a weathered fence post. Her sharp eyes scanned the ground below, a predator poised for the hunt.

the water was a mirror

perfect harmony in the quiet majesty of winter’s grasp

Fields bathed in low light

now shrouded in twilight

I was filled with wonder and a deep respect for this beautiful creature

Plumes of snowy white

Flurry of motion and power

Starlings seemingly move as one

my only movement the depression of the shutter button

each breath visible as a wisp of white mist

This Hawksbill Sea Turtle surprised me while I snorkelled in Belize

casting a blue hue over the endless stretch of white
