Their bhuttas obverse an altar of crossed swords flanked by lamps, with varying numbers of dots above. The Kongu Cheras ruled in the Kongu area of what is now the northwestern Tamilnadu (Coimbatore) from the late 10th century to the rise of Vijayanagar at the end of the 14th century.
