Urushi Watch Box — Handmade in Echizen, JapanA watch box made the way the Japanese have made lacquerware for over a thousand years. The base is solid wood, cut and joined in a small workshop in Echizen the town that has been the center of Japanese urushi lacquerware since the 6th century. Once shaped, the box is lacquered entirely by hand by a fourth generation artisan. Urushi is the sap of the lacquer tree, filtered and tinted with natural pigment. Each layer is brushed on thin and left to cure
