Hapalopus sp. Colombian large 1/4”size 1 4 Beautiful undescribed species sometimes incorrectly sold as Hapalopus formosus. About 4 inches as adults, this terrestrial spider will get your attention with their striking colors. Easy to keep and breed, this spider has become readily available and affordable.

Sometimes referred to as a “pet hole” due to their burrowing habits

The Colombian Lesser Black tarantula is one of my favorites along with the rest of the genus

however in 2022 they were established in the genus Neoholothele by authors Danniella Sherwood

Females are a dark velevet brown color while the males turn a brilliant purple color upon maturity

This species is still undescribed along with many of the other species in the genus

They use to be fairly common as wild caught adults and could easily be found on vendors tables for as low as $30

Once they get bigger they can be set up in something a litter nicer and natural looking
